Family Pizza Night & Peace Mala Accreditation
At the end of the summer term we held our annual family get together. This year rather than our usual barbecue at Llansteffan, we held a Pizza evening at Cwmoernant Barn. We are once again indebted to Penny Reynolds for her generosity in allowing us use of the barn, and on this occasion use of the fabulous pizza oven.
Around 100 people attended the evening, during which several Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were presented with awards, or completed their 'moving on' awards.
However the highlight of the evening was receiving our Peace Mala Accreditation. We were honoured that Pam Evans, founder of Peace Mala, was able to attend the evening, along with several trustees and supporters from the organisation.
We were also delighted to have the company of the Mayor of Carmarthen, Cllr Douglas Rose, and are very grateful to him for his generous donation to the group from the Mayor's fund.
We will continue to keep Peace Mala values at the heart of what we do as a group, and hope that as we are the first Scout Group in the UK to receive Peace Mala accreditation, that we will be an inspiration to other groups to work towards the award, as the values of Peace Mala and the values of Scouting go very much hand in hand. By becoming a Peace Mala accredited group we hope that we will make our small contribution to making the world a better place.
